About the Project

Work and Us is a new book-in-progress and multimedia storytelling project by Farai Chideya. Chideya has worked in a volatile industry -- media -- which has changed dramatically (and shrunk significantly) over the past two decades. Like so many of us, she began to reflect on how deeply attached she was to her identity as someone with a specific job. Part of work is about the money, but part of it is about social status, rituals and routines, and attachments. In other words, work is a relationship. And by sharing our stories, as well as exploring economic trends, we can make that relationship better.
